Type of Surf Board

Surf boards, also called surfboards, are a type of sea water board that is used to catch waves for surfing. Surfboards can be made of different materials and shapes and sizes. The type of surfboard someone chooses depends on what kind of waves they are catching. There are six main types of surf boards: longboards, gun/gunner style boards, funboards, hybrids, shortboards, and fish boards.

Longboards

The longboard is primarily a single-finned surfboard with a large, rounded nose and length of 270 to 370 cm. A longboard is typically a surfboard measuring 9 to 12 feet in length. Longboards are the most common type of surf boards. The board is usually made from foam, polystyrene, balsa wood, and fibreglass. Longboards are great for beginners or those who want to surf without getting too wet. They are stable and stable which is perfect for learners. They are also good for those who want to surf in choppy conditions.

Gun Board

Gun board or also called Big Wave Board is used by professionals or experienced surfers who know the waves well and can handle more challenging conditions. They love surfing big waves but can also handle smaller ones as well. A gun board measuring 7 to 11.5 feet in length.

Funboard

Funboards are perfect for intermediate to advanced level surfers that don’t want to focus on one type of surfing but instead want a board that can do it all depending on their mood. The shape of this board is like longboards with a lot more volume which makes them easier to paddle in. Funboards measuring 210 to 240 cm (6.5 to 9 feet) in length. funboards for those who want to jump or do tricks

Hybrid Board

The Hybrid board is for beginners or those who want to cruise the board slowly without jumping much and for those who want to jump or do tricks. A Hybrid board measuring 180 to 260 cm (6 to 8.5 feet) in length.

Shortboard

the Shortboard for those who want to jump or do tricks. These shortboard have pointed noses and thin rails, which gives you the best turning ability and gives you more control than any other board type. Shortboard perfect for intermediate to advanced surfers. measuring 180 to 210 cm (6 to 7 feet) in length. with a pointed nose and a rounded or squarish tail, typically with three fins but sometimes with two or as many as five.

Fish Board

Fish board perfect for small, slow wave because when the surf is slow and small a fish board allow you to catch more waves. recommend for intermediate and advanced surfers. measuring 180 cm (5 to 6.5 feet)

Different surf boards are designed for different purposes. So, it’s important to know what you want to do with your board before buying one. for example, if you want to go fast, consider getting a longboard or gun.
